A close friend of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge has revealed that the couple are "going through hell" as Kate Middleton continues her battle with cancer.

Children's clothing designer Amaia Arrieta, who has created many of the outfits worn by Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis, said: "I'm heartbroken at the moment. I think they are going through hell."

She added: "I hope they will be back. It's really personal."

Arrieta has been designing clothes for the young royals since Prince George was a baby. She told the Telegraph that dressing the Royal children brings her "so much pride".

Her designs were first spotted on Prince George in 2014, when he wore a pair of shorts and knee-high socks designed by Arrieta for a portrait, reports the Mirror.

Last week, Prince William gave a rare update on his wife's condition during a visit to the north-east of England. He met Royal fans who had been waiting to see him, and one of them, Julie Cain, asked him: "Do you mind if I ask how your wife and children are?".

Prince William replied: "All doing well, thank you. Yes, we're doing well."

Prince William has been gradually resuming his Royal duties after his wife, the Princess of Wales, disclosed her cancer diagnosis and the commencement of chemotherapy treatment last month. The Royal couple also delighted fans by releasing a beautiful, previously unseen wedding photograph from their private collection in celebration of their 13th wedding anniversary.

This significant anniversary comes as Kate continues her chemotherapy treatment following the revelation of her cancer diagnosis earlier this year. When she shared her startling news last month, she requested time, space, and privacy to continue her treatment.

At 42, Kate expressed how the diagnosis was an enormous shock and that she and William "have been doing everything we can to process and manage this privately for the sake of our young family".
