The Royal Family is known for their lighthearted approach to birthday celebrations, and it seems that this year, Prince Archie, the eldest child of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, may have missed out on these traditions after turning five. Notably, at the time of writing, the Royal Family has not extended a public birthday greeting to Archie via social media, a common practice for members of the monarchy.

Royal author Tom Quinn, who has penned several books about The Firm, spoke to The Mirror about the situation: "Archie is definitely missing out on some rather sweet Royal birthday traditions because the family is never short of money they don't buy each other expensive gifts."

Tom Quinn elaborated on the family's gift-giving habits, saying: "That would just be too easy and pointless as every member of the family has enough money to buy any and everything they want."

"Instead, whenever it is someone's birthday, there is a royal race to find the funniest, silliest present Kate probably holds the record for the most amusing present," he disclosed, reports the Mirror.

One particularly humorous gift was given by Kate to her future brother-in-law, Prince Harry. Quinn shared: "A few years before he met Meghan, Kate bought Harry a 'how to grow your own girlfriend' kit! ".

"The fun of buying cheap, amusing presents for each other has always shown the lighter side of the Royal Family and it's sad Archie won't get to experience this," he said.

Archie was brought into the world on May 6, 2019 - two years before his parents, Meghan and Harry, welcomed his younger sister, Princess Lilibet, now aged two. Unlike past Royal births, Buckingham Palace chose a different route, announcing Archie's arrival with a framed notice placed on an easel as opposed to an immediate photocall at the hospital steps.

Despite the Duke and Duchess of Sussex stepping back from their roles as senior royals in 2020, the palace continued to send them birthday wishes until 2022. However, it was subsequently reported that the family would no longer extend these courtesies to non-working royals.

Reflecting on Archie's birth at Portland Hospital in London, Harry confessed that becoming a father had been "the most amazing experience I could ever have possibly imagined."
