Kookaburra Prepares Dinner by 'Whacking' Snake Against Tree

A family in the Sydney suburbs couldn’t take their eyes off a kookaburra in their front yard recently, as the hungry bird repeatedly slammed a snake against a branch.

Video by Caitlin Peake shows the bird “whacking” the snake, presumably to make sure it was dead, or at least thoroughly stunned, before eating it. “It soon flew off to enjoy its catch,” she said.
