Kym Marsh misses Morning Live because of 'possibly stress-related' illness

Kym Marsh had to pull out of an instalment of Morning Live due to illness that was “possibly stress-related”.

The star’s fellow presenter Gethin Jones told viewers that Marsh – whose dad David has terminal cancer – would not be there as the BBC show started on Thursday (14 December). Jones said Marsh would be replaced by Rav Wilding, telling viewers: “You've got me and Rav today… You've stepped in because Kym Marsh is not here today, she's meant to be. She's ill, isn't she?"

“She called in a few hours ago,” Wilding replied. “She's sick, possibly stress-related, and I think she's got a lot going on at the moment, and possibly shingles as well. So nasty if she's got that. Kym I know you're watching at home, get well soon."

"Does sound nasty,” said Jones. “She's got so much going on with her dad at the moment. Dave's been on Morning Live talking about his prostate cancer. And we know the doctors can no longer treat him."

Kym Marsh's father's cancer battle

Marsh announced in 2021 that her dad had been diagnosed with prostate cancer amid the coronavirus pandemic. She has kept Morning Live viewers and fans updated about how he is getting on, and recently shared on the show that the family had been told to make lots of memories.

The star said scans had shown that there were "more cancer deposits further up his spine now”. “They are doing further scans to see if it's gone into any more of his bones but unfortunately they can't offer him chemotherapy,” she said.

“So they advised us to go and spend lots of time with him and make lots of memories.”

Actor said dad inspires her everyday

Marsh has regularly told fans how much her dad means to her, and on Father’s Day posted a sweet message on Instagram calling him a “legend”. “Dad you inspire me daily,” said the former Coronation Street and Hear’Say star.

“Your strength in life has always been immeasurable. You tackle everything life throws at you with a smile on your face and always a joke at hand. You are the best dad anyone could wish for and I’m so glad you are mine. Here’s to you poppa bear! Always your shadow."

"Love you always and forever," she added.
