Former Leeds United defender Danny Mills believes that Norwich City may begrudgingly sell “standout” player Josh Sargent to the Whites.

It would be a reunion for Daniel Farke, who is said to be interested in signing Sargent for the second time after initially bringing the American to Carrow Road in 2021. The Canaries are said to be in a much similar position to Leeds, and may also be forced to sell key assets.

With both sides failing to progress through the play-offs, Norwich at the hands of Leeds in the semi finals before Farke’s men lost against Southampton in the final, the parachute payments for both sides will dwindle and players are expected out the exit door at both clubs to rekindle some form of cash.

Leeds are expected to command big fees for the likes of Crysencio Summerville and Willy Gnonto, and it is believed that 16-goal striker Sargent is valued at around £8million. “Obviously, he was one of their better players last season, one of their standouts,” Mills told Football League World.

“If you can command a big fee sometimes, you have to sacrifice that. Spurs did it with Gareth Bale. If you can sell one and bring four in, sometimes that’s just a good business model. It’s what you have to do.”
