Train delayed after stubborn swan point blank refuses to move from track

This is a new excuse for a train delay - a swan.

A Walthamstow to Liverpool St train was stopped in its tracks because the bird leapt onto the tracks, and stayed there.

Despite its death-defying actions, it appears that the swan was ok.

Which is more than can be said for the passengers on the train who tweeted about how they were delayed.

It wasn’t clear how late the swan made the train, but it is certainly a novel reason for a delay.

Earlier this month, a passenger with a plastic sword prompted delays after somebody thought it was a concealed weapon.

And, also this month, a train conductor forced a delay after dropping his driving licence onto the tracks.

He later apologised to customers and informed that he was going to Guildford to get a replacement lanyard later that day.

More run-of-the-mill problems have also been experienced by hard-pressed commuters including delays due to weather and electrical power failures.
