Liverpool transfer target who Newcastle United have been urged to make a late move for

Newcastle United have been urged to make a late move for Leeds United winger Crysencio Summerville with the Dutchman looking set to join either Brighton or Liverpool this summer.

The 22-year-old was the star man for Leeds last season but with the West Yorkshire side missing out on promotion to the Premier League, there's reportedly a need for the club to sell their key men before the new campaign kicks off.

With 20 goals to his name, the winger is arguably Leeds' most sellable asset and Brighton have reportedly made an enquiry with a view to making a £30 million bid.

Liverpool, now under the management of Arnie Slot, are also said to be interested with Summervile said to be one of the manager's top targets while he was in charge at Feyenoord and that interest has carried over to Anfield.

While Newcastle have not been linked, our Newcastle United Editor Aaron Stokes has urged Eddie Howe to consider a move for last season's Championship Player of the Season.

Speaking on The Everything is Black and White Podcast, Stokes said: "Summerville will probably cost you £35 million but he can play. He plays on the left for Leeds but can also play on the right - and was Championship Player of the Year. He has a very, very good record.

"He's the one player in the Leeds team that really stands out - he looks like he's ready for the Premier League. I don't think it would be a case of signing him like James Trafford and waiting for him to grow - he would be knocking on that door straight away.

"You can maybe file it under unrealistic because you've got Liverpool and Bayern Munich linked and Brighton too, so it would be a big ask."

With Summerville primarily playing on the left his arrival at Newcastle may provoke concern amongst some fans that the position would become oversubscribed as Howe would have Harvey Barnes and Anthony Gordon to pick from as well - however, Stokes believes it wouldn't be an issue.

"Would Howe and the transfer team potentially look at it and say, 'Look, if we can get Summerville in for £35 million and we don't need to go out and sign a right winger,' because we've got Summerville who can play there, Gordon can play there and Barnes could potentially have a stint out there if you wanted.

"So would it take the need away to get in someone on the right? I don't know. Look, I'm not saying Newcastle are going to sign him but if I talked about Championship players that I would like to sign, then I would love to see him at Newcastle."
