'Long delays' on M6 as air ambulance sent to crash between motorbike and van

There are still 'long delays' on the M6 in North Staffordshire after a crash involving a motorcycle and a van. The collision occurred shortly before 3.30pm.

Both sides of the motorway were brought to a standstill so an air ambulance could land at the scene. Two ambulances and a paramedic officer were also called to the incident.

All lanes on the northbound carriageway, where the collision occurred, were reopened at 5.25pm although congestion remains. The southbound carriageway has been fully open since the air ambulance left the scene.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesperson said: "We were called at 3.26pm to a road traffic collision involving a motorbike and a van on the M6 between junctions 14 and 15 in Hanchurch, Stoke on Trent. Two ambulances, a paramedic officer and the Midland Air Ambulance from Cosford attended the scene."
