Love Island's Jess Shears and Dom Lever just got 'married' on Good Morning Britain
There’s never a dull moment on Good Morning Britain, even when Piers Morgan isn’t there.
When Love Island’s Jess Shears and Dom Lever appeared on today’s show (14 February), they decided to take their Valentine’s Day love to the extreme by (sort of) getting married on live TV.
Despite the pair having been engaged since last September, they’d only met three months earlier on the ITV2 reality show.
Jess and Dom got together from day one and have been somewhat inseparable ever since. Yet the overblown gesture of romance was not appreciated by everyone watching at home. In fact, many were branding the ceremony – orchestrated by presenter Richard Arnold – as one of the most cringe-worthy things they’d ever witnessed.
Congratulations Jess and Dom! ❤️
We're delighted to host the ceremony for the FIRST EVER @LoveIsland wedding… Yes, this is really happening LIVE on air! #gmb pic.twitter.com/XSW4qWyhRC

After audiences were left loathing Jeremy Kyle as Piers Morgan’s temporary replacement while on holiday, it seems the Love Island duo have topped the polls for viewer disdain. Not even Jezza talking for the first time about marrying his children’s ex-nanny could have prepared audiences for this event, either.
And suffice to say GMB viewers shared their thoughts on the car crash scene on Twitter because people couldn’t quite believe what they were seeing.
Going to a whole other level on @GMB this morning – clinging desperately onto fame to keep relevant by getting married live on tv #Jess #Dom #Cringe

No one seemed the least bit impressed, branding the moment as a tacky stunt to stay relevant.
Was that actual real what i just witnessed? Jess and Dom getting married on live tv why would you ruin one of the best days of your life like that… no dress, no family, no friends, the list goes onnnn. I don’t care if i was getting paid 1mil would still never do that, ever.

However, as official as it may have appeared, the whole thing wasn’t actually legally binding.
No doubt we’ll see a lavish wedding and photoshoot snaps splashed across every gossip mag for a thousand-mile radius when they properly tie the knot.
Love Island is back for a new series this summer – you can actually apply to be on it here, if you think you can handle it.
