Major Bradford road still shut almost 24 hours after large fire

A MAJOR Bradford road is still shut this morning almost 24 hours after a large fire.

Crews from across West Yorkshire scrambled to Leeds Road just after 12pm on Wednesday.

Both floors of auto parts store Heaton Motor Factors were involved in the fire, with emergency services heard telling the public to "get back" amid the dangerous scenes.

West Yorkshire Police shut a large section of Leeds Road and advised drivers to avoid the area for much of Wednesday afternoon.

This morning, that area of the road remains closed from Thornbury Road to the A6177 Laisterdyke.

Bus services continue to be affected with both the 72 and X6, which connect Bradford to Leeds, suffering diversions.

First have alerted passengers on X about the diversions (Image: X) The latest update from West Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service (WYFRS) was at mid-afternoon yesterday.

At 3pm, the incident was scaled down as crews continue to dampen down the scene.

At 4pm, four relief crews were sent over to assist with this; from Wakefield, Morley, Cookridge and Killingbeck.
