Security scare after airport intruder runs onto jet and dances

A man sparked a major security investigation after he breached airport security, ran to a jet and danced at the top of its steps. The intruder spent around three minutes airside before being apprehended by armed police.

The incident occurred at London City Airport amidst heightened alert for Just Stop Oil protesters. Police were first alerted at 6.45am on Thursday, June 20, when the man was spotted loitering near a security post.

An insider told The Sun: "It's unacceptable that an intruder can breeze past security officers. He could have had a weapon or explosives. A major investigation has been launched by airport bosses."

As the gate was lifted for a catering van, the man managed to jog past officials and reached an ITA Airways jet scheduled to depart for Milan at 7.40am. Wearing only shorts, he performed a wild dance by the door.

Video footage shows police tackling him to the ground in front of surprised passengers. Up to ten officers stopped him and he was arrested at 9.45am for breach of security and public nuisance. The incident resulted in three hours of delays.
