Man charged with possessing offensive weapon in Shirley

Police have charged a man in connection with an offensive weapon being discovered by officers in Shirley.

An offensive weapon was found on Shirley Road at around 5.40pm on Sunday afternoon, June 30, police said.

A police spokesperson said: "Andrew Botting, 46, of St. James Close, Southampton was arrested and charged with possession of an offensive weapon in a public place.

"He is due to appear at Southampton Magistrates’ Court today, June 1."
