Manchester United's key dates and fixtures for 2024/25 Premier League season

Erik ten Hag will lead Manchester United into the 2024/25 Premier League season after a period of uncertainty around his future.

United endured a disappointing last season and finished eighth in the Premier League, suffering a club-record number of defeats and recording a minus goal difference.

The campaign was salvaged by a stunning FA Cup triumph over Manchester City at Wembley, but United must improve in the league next season and Ten Hag is aware of that.

Ten Hag has been given the vote of confidence from Sir Jim Ratcliffe to remain in charge and he will manage United for a third season. The Dutchman's first year in charge was a resounding success but United regressed in 2023/24 and must return to those previous levels.

The Premier League announced its fixture list for the 2024/25 season on Tuesday morning as United discovered the order in which they will play the other 19 top-flight teams.

United fans would have been quick to look for key dates, like matches against Liverpool and Manchester City, so we've compiled the key matches in a list below.

Here are the biggest dates for United in the 2024/25 Premier League schedule...

United vs Fulham (August 16)

United have the privilege of being one of the teams to kick off the new Premier League season and they will welcome London club Fulham to Old Trafford for a Friday evening clash.

Fulham won 2-1 at Old Trafford in February thanks to a goal from Alex Iwobi in the depths of added time and they will be tricky opponents for United to overcome.

United vs Liverpool (August 31)

United fans have the treat of facing Liverpool just a few weeks into the season and it will be fascinating to see how the derby unfolds following the appointment of Arne Slot.

Jurgen Klopp's farewell was ruined by United last season - the quarter-final FA Cup victory was stunning - and nobody knows how Liverpool will fare without him in charge. An outstanding atmosphere is guaranteed when Liverpool visit Old Trafford and it's an early fixture to look forward to.

United vs Chelsea (November 2)

The 10-game mark of the Premier League season gives an indicator of what to expect for the rest of the campaign because enough matches have been played to gauge how each team will fare.

That milestone will be reached when United play Chelsea at Old Trafford on November 2 and there's an added element of intrigue to the clash because Mauricio Pochettino was sacked at the end of last season, despite finishing sixth in the table, and replaced by Enzo Maresca.

Manchester City vs United (December 14)

The first Manchester derby of the season will be played at the Etihad on December 14 and the result could decide whether supporters enjoy their Christmas dinners just over a week later.

United shocked City, who were heavy favourites, by winning the FA Cup at Wembley and Pep Guardiola's side will be desperate for revenge when the sides next meet.

Liverpool vs United (January 4)

The visit to Anfield is always highly anticipated and United will make the trip to Merseyside for their first game of 2025. Leaving Anfield away with a point is always considered a respectable result and Ten Hag's side secured a 0-0 draw when playing there last term.

Andre Onana became the first goalkeeper in the Premier League to keep a clean sheet at Anfield last season and preventing Liverpool from scoring again will be the target.

United vs City (April 5)

United's final derby of the season will come against City at Old Trafford on April 5 and by then, we'll know how they have performed throughout the season and whether top four is likely.
