Gabby Logan has been backed as the 'ideal replacement' for one of her Match of the Day colleagues, as viewers championed her as 'one of the best ever' when she anchored coverage of Scotland v Switzerland on Wednesday night.

A leading presenter on the BBC for years now, Gabby has been given the responsibility of leading a number of massive events, from the World Cup to the Olympics and the Euros to Sports Personality of the Year and the well respected broadcaster was back in the anchor's chair as Scottish fans across the globe hoped that Steve Clarke's side could bounce back in style from their opening 5-1 Euros defeat against Germany on Friday.

And it's the man who was on air on Match of the Day just a few hours earlier, one Gary Lineker, that Gabby drew comparisons to as the live coverage went on. Although he presented the early evening kick off between Hungary and Germany, some viewers expected Gary to be back for the Scotland match, while many others were pleased to see Gabby in the hot seat, as she was joined in the studio by guests like David Moyes and Joe Hart.

Following an entertaining first half, that saw Scotland take a 1-0 lead before being pegged back to 1-1, Gabby led the half time discussion on what had gone on and that is when many posts started flooding in about her on X. Calling for her to be an eventual replacement for Lineker, one wrote: "Gabby Logan should be presenting the big England games and FA Cup Final when Gary Lineker hangs up his presenting boots IMO. Such an accomplished presenter"

Among the many other posts championing Gabby, a second read: "Gabby Logan is a lot better at this than Gary Lineker" as another viewer remarked: "Gabby Logan is the queen of presenting. She’s fantastic. Streets ahead of anyone else."
