The Met Office has issued a thunderstorm and rain warning for Greater Manchester today.

The yellow weather warning is set to come into force at 1pm and last until 9pm on Bank Holiday Monday. It covers all of our region as well as much of the north of England and parts of Scotland.

Forecasters have warned that thunderstorms and heavy downpours 'may cause flooding and travel disruption' this afternoon and into this evening. Heavy rain is likely to cause difficult driving conditions and may lead to some road closures.

There is a chance of delays to train and bus services and a small chance of homes and businesses being flooded. In Greater Manchester, rain is forecast from around 2pm.

Showers are then expected through the afternoon, though they are expected to be on-and-off with a mix of cloudy weather also forecast. A yellow thunderstorm warning has also been issued for parts of the South and South East of England, which will come into force at lunchtime until 9pm this evening.
