Met Office yellow weather warning for thunderstorms across the North East

The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for thunderstorms across the North East.

Heavy rain and thunderstorms on Monday will bring a chance of disruption to parts of northern England, the Met Office states.

The weather warning is in place from 1pm to 9pm and covers all of County Durham and Darlington.

According to the Met Offfice there will be further showers, heavy and possibly thundery, today. Cool on coasts.

A cloudy start with some showers or longer spells of rain, locally heavy at times. Some bright or warm sunny spells developing into the afternoon, with further heavy showers, possibly thundery at times. Rather murky along and cooler on coasts. Maximum temperature 16 °C.

Tonight

Rather cloudy, with further spells of rain or showers overnight. Low cloud and fog persisting along some coastal areas. A milder night compared to previous nights. Light winds. Minimum temperature 6 °C.
