Mikie Tallon is eager to make up for lost time when he makes his return to the ring on Friday night.

Tallon continued his unbeaten start in the professional ranks with a points victory over Adam Yahaya back in January, on the undercard of Natasha Jonas’ win over Mikaela Mayer. However, since that bout at the M&S Bank Arena, Tallon has been out of action, with two scheduled fights falling through at the eleventh hour.

But despite the obvious frustration of not being in action, Tallon is now ready to show why he is considered one of the brightest prospects in boxing against Marius Vysniauskas.

“I have been training alongside Macaulay McGowan, who is challenging for the European title on the same bill; it has been good and intense,” he told the ECHO.

“I haven’t fought since January. I can’t wait and I have had two or three shows cancelled or postponed, so I can’t wait to get in there.

“The most frustrating bit has been the fact that you don’t end up fighting. When you get the call to say you are not fighting, you just let out a big sigh.

“I had two shows, and if they hadn’t been cancelled, this would have been my seventh fight. I only turned professional back in October, but this is another chance for me to put my name out there and show everyone what I can do.”

Tallon is not only managed by unified world champion Jonas, but he also trains alongside Paul Butler and Lawrence Okolie at Joe Gallagher’s gym in Manchester.

“I think it is a big year for everyone at Joe’s gym," he said. "Lawrence has just won his world title; then you have Macaulay and Jack [Massey] fighting in big fights. It is a big year."
