'Mini-heatwave' predictions - how temperatures will climb across Greater Manchester and UK

Temperatures have been climbing across the country in what has been referred to by some as a 'mini-heatwave'. Parts of the UK could see highs of around 20C with pleasant spells of sunshine, according to the Met Office.

But forecasters don't believe Greater Manchester will see temperatures reach the high-teens. The Met Office expects our region to see highs of 17C in some areas today (April 12).

It should still be a pleasant day, with sunny intervals expected later on. Any hopes of a so-called 'mini-heatwave' on Saturday and Sunday have been dashed by Met Office forecasters, though.

Periods of rain are expected to fall tomorrow, with temperatures not likely to climb any higher than 15C. Sunday is expected to feel cooler still - with maximum temperatures between 10C and 12C on a cloudy day across Greater Manchester.

The forecast appears to be a mixed bag across the region over the next few days - and if you expected wall-to-wall sunshine, you might need to rethink your weekend plans. Here's the full outlook for Greater Manchester from the Met Office, borough-by-borough.
