One of Coronation Street's 'missing' stars wasn't too far away from the cobbles as she reunited with her co-star and best mate on an unusual yellow carpet. Fans of the ITV soap know Cait Fitton's character Lauren Bolton suddenly disappeared back in February.

The teenager was last seen on February 23 after being sacked from her job at the cafe by Roy Cropper. The cafe owner later visited her with her wages and some extra cash to tide her over before the character was later visited at home by a mystery person who viewers never got to see.

It came after weeks of unusual behaviour from Lauren linked to a 'mystery boyfriend' while it was new love interest Bobby finding her flat unlocked and her nowhere to be found. But the missing person case soon became a murder probe when blood was found in Lauren's flat.

And it was Roy who quickly became DS Lisa Swain's prime suspect after it emerged he was the last person to see her alive. He then misguidedly deep-cleaned Lauren’s flat in a bid to help his friend Evelyn Plummer, who was sub-letting the precinct flat.

Roy has since been charged with Lauren's murder and was later refused bail following a scuffle with one of the many internet sleuths who have been targeting him over Lauren's possible death.

But while Lauren may be missing, it was clear where Cait was on Thursday night (April 25) as she headed to the Land of Oz - aka Manchester's Palace Theatre. The soap star was seen posing for the cameras on the yellow carpet, instead of the usual showbiz red carpet, in the city centre alongside Corrie pal Liam McCheyne before heading inside to see the Wizard of Oz.

Comedian and Salford's own Jason Manford is reprising his role as The Cowardly Lion in the production after a triumphant run of 100 shows in the West End last year. The production is now on a UK tour - but Jason's return will be for two weeks only here in Manchester - as he says he simply had to play it again back on home turf at the Palace Theatre from April 24 to May 5.

The new Waterloo Road star is starring alongside drag star The Vivienne as The Wicked Witch, JLS singer Aston Merrygold as Tin Man and Aviva Tulley who takes on the leading role of Dorothy.

Back to the yellow carpet and Cait was seen beaming alongside Liam, who plays Corrie's Dylan with Harriet Bibby, who recently exited the soap as Summer Spellman, Joel Deering actor Calum Lill, and soap newcomer Emrhys Cooper, currently known to viewers as Rowan, also heading to see the much-loved show.

Ru Paul's Drag Race star Anna Phylactic Britain's Got Talent finalist and panto star Ben Nickless and drag performer and singer Danny Beard were also in attendance during the press night.

It comes after Cait shared her close friendship with Liam by posting a picture of herself stood in between him and his twin brother Connor on Instagram. Back in January, she said: "Happy birthday to my favourite twinnies!" She added alongside another smiling snap of the trio: "Thank you for being the brothers I always wanted but never had the privilege to have."
