Former TikTok prankster Mizzy says he's 'starting fresh' after prison

Mizzy was sentenced to 18 weeks in November 2023 and says he is now changing his life.

The former TikTok prankster Mizzy has said he is turning his life around and starting "fresh" following a stint in prison.

Mizzy, whose real name is Bacari Bronze O'Garro, was sentenced to 18 weeks in November 2023 after being found guilty of breaching a court order that blocked him from posting social media content of other people without their consent.

During sentencing, the judge told Mizzy "put bluntly, your pranks are not funny".

And, despite the teenager finding fame posting controversial content that including him and friends walking into people's homes uninvited, Mizzy appears to have come to the conclusion that the judge had a point.

"Continuously repeating the same mistakes while hoping for a different outcome is like trying to fill a leaky bucket with water—it's an exercise in futility. Starting fresh, I'm all for bringing good vibes into the world, I've learnt to move on from my past and embrace a positive new beginning," he wrote on X (formerly Twitter).

"I sold myself for others entertainment and I wasn't helping myself just making my life more harder to deal with when it's already hard.

"Being banned from posting to social media was probably one of the best things to happen for me because it gave me time to myself to realise what I was doing was unacceptable and that I couldn't get away with it for any longer and the only people I'm hurting is myself, my child and my mum."

The 19-year-old added in a clip from his interview with the BBC - which is set to be aired on 12 April at 6pm - that he was "trying to repent" for the things he had done.

"When the judge told me I was getting sentenced - and it was not like a suspended sentence or community service but and it was yeah you're going to jail - I realised i had to really change my life around when i came out and do better for my son. Because I can't just be a bum doing TikTok pranks when i'm 30."

Mizzy was jailed in November 2023 after being found guilty of two counts of breaching a court order that prohibited him from posting videos of people on social media without their consent.

He had previously been given the court order after filming himself walking into "random people's homes" without their consent and sharing the footage online. According to the judge, Mizzy broke the court-imposed order "within hours" and also claimed in a television interview that the law was "weak".

According to the social media influencer, he has gone back to college and is studying media and writing weekly articles as part of an online journalism course.

He also shared that he has completed a health and safety test for people working in the construction industry.

And while he has said he is focused on pursuing a positive future, Mizzy added that he won't be away from social media entirely.

Yes, I will be returning to socials and posting videos eventually but only in a way that will prevent me from being in risk of harm and anyone else," he said. "So make sure your following up because the return of Mizzy could be sooner than you think.."
