Christopher Nolan's Batman movies have made the world discover a new love of Batman, with audiences across the world swooning before his version of 'The Dark Knight'.

However it appears that cinema goers aren't the only ones in thrall to the superhero, as the man playing Batman himself is apparently desperate to continue in his role after new movie 'The Dark Knight Rises'.

According to The Metro, the actor said: "If Chris came to me with a script and said: 'You know what? There is another story,' then I would love the challenge of making a fourth one work."

The words can be read as a none too subtle plea to his director and producers to get working to give Bale's Batman another outing, as it was thought that the latest film would be the last in Nolan's series of films.

It also implies that contrary to rumours, Batman will not die in the next installment, as if Bale is gunning for another crack at depicting Bruce Wayne then he evidently knows something we don't; that Batman survives his encounter with Tom Hardy's villain 'Bane'.

However Bale hinted that despite his Dark Knight desires, this would would indeed be his last outing, saying: "My understanding is that this is the last one. I think it's appropriate, I think it's correct. I think it's going out at the right time. But, look, Chris [Nolan] always plays his cards very close to his chest."
