'The Dark Knight Rises' Director Christopher Nolan To Direct 'Extraordinary' James Bond Movie?

The extraordinary success of 'Skyfall' seems to have Sam Mendes spot as the director of any future James Bond movie for the foreseeable future, but 'Skyfall' special effects supervisor Chris Corbould thinks 'The Dark Knight Rises' director Christopher Nolan could be the man to take over.

Corbould also worked with Nolan on 'Inception', winning an Oscar in the process, and thinks that Nolan would make an "extraordinary" Bond, and would be up for the job due to his love of 007.

Mendes has acknowledged that Nolan's second Batman movie, 'The Dark Knight' influenced 'Skyfall', with its more brooding feel than its predecessors.

Corbould told Digital Spy: "Chris [Nolan] is a great fan of Bond films," adding: "We spend a lot of time analysing them, him interrogating me on why things were done in certain Bond films. I've done 13 Bonds, so I've got quite a history with them.

"I think he likes the way they're made, some better than others. The end part of the third act in Inception was his little homage to Bond."

Having finished his Batman trilogy and at a sprightly 42, Nolan has time on his side to move to the secret agent franchise, which as a British director and Bond fan may be too tempting to forego.

The job for now seems to be Mendes', but after that? With Daniel Craig perhaps bowing out after two more movies, it could be that Nolan gets a chance to reboot the franchise after the incumbent director and star inevitably depart.

Corbould, whose first Bond film was 'A View To A Kill' certainly thinks Nolan would be a safe pair of hands, saying:  "I would love to see him do one. I think he would make an extraordinary Bond. Having seen Skyfall, that's a tough act to follow."

Nolan is currently overseeing 'Superman: Man of Steel' as a producer, and will likely have some involvement in the rolling out of D.C Comics and Warner Bros'  'Justice League', which will likely connect his 'Batman' franchise with the 'Superman' reboot as 'The Avengers' did for Marvel's stable of heroes.

That could though take him up to the point where Mendes' time as Bond supremo is over, and then... Well who would be better to ensure that 007 continues to wow fans?
