'Theresa the Appeaser' - Nigel Farage accuses Prime Minister of 'dancing to the EU's tune' over Brexit negotiations

Former UKIP leader Nigel Farage has branded the Prime Minister ‘Theresa the Appeaser’, accusing her of ‘dancing to the EU’s tune’.

During a Brexit debate in the European Parliament, Mr Farage told MEPs that the EU’s chief Brexit negotiator Michel Barnier hadn’t needed to make any concessions to Mrs May because the UK’s Prime Minister was “all for making as many concessions as she possibly could”.

He cited what he referred to as a “ludicrous bill” of up to £40bn for the right to leave, a continued role for the European court of justice and family reunion rights that he said would mean that “frankly open-door immigration” would continue.

Mr Farage added: “It’s as if even though we are leaving effectively the British government wants to keep us in some form of single market relationship.

“So I am not surprised you’re all very pleased with her, Theresa the Appeaser has given in on virtually everything.”

He added: “Whether we like or dislike the European Union we can’t deny the power it has got because you managed to make a British Prime Minister leave Downing Street in the middle of the night, fly to Brussels to go and forge and agreement with unelected bureaucrats based in Brussels – it’s a form of ritual humiliation which she was prepared to put herself through.

“She has danced to your tune all the way through this, you must be very very pleased indeed.”
