Channel 4’s resident weatherman Liam Dutton has slammed recent weather reports and warnings of a ‘snow bomb.’

Dutton posted on his Twitter: ‘I can’t make it any clearer than this…THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS A SNOW BOMB!!! So those using it to garner clicks and shares for your hyperbolic, crappy content, take note…’

Dutton’s claims comes after it was widely reported across British news sources that extreme wintery weather is approaching, including ice storms, inches of snow and even a ‘snow bomb.’

Four separate weather warnings have been made across the UK, with snow and ice warnings issued by the MET Office.

A spokesperson from the MET Office said: “Rain and snow is expected to move in from the southwest, moving across England and Wales through Thursday into Friday.

“This is likely to fall as heavy rain at first across the far southwest of England, but as it meets the cold air established over the rest of the country snow becomes more likely.

“There is a chance of 2-5cm of snow for some places, timings are currently uncertain.

“10cm is possible in places, though there is uncertainty at this stage on where is most likely to see the greater snowfall accumulations.

“Overnight Thursday into early Friday ice may also become a hazard on any untreated surfaces as temperatures fall below freezing.”

However, the predicted snowy weather has been described by various news outlets as a ‘snow bomb.’

The MET Office has blasted this terminology and told Yahoo UK: “We don’t know where that came from. It’s not a term we would use.”
