With the weather as nice as it was over the weekend, many people took full advantage and headed to places where they could enjoy a day of fun and plenty of sun. And one place that had people flocking was Morpeth's very own paddling pool, with a certain Newcastle WAG joining crowds there at the weekend.

As passengers at one UK airport continued to be blighted by huge queues and another was plunged into chaos by a massive power cut, staying at home became a much more hassle free option and, as the forecast for the North East actually proved to be spot on, rather than filling us with false hope, plenty of attractions in the region saw large footfall across Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

For the thrillseekers out there, The Hoppings is now underway for another year, with those heading up to the Town Moor for its first few days enjoying a scorcher. And for families on the look out for an easy way to cool off, the paddling pool at Carlisle Park in Morpeth soared right to the top of many people's to-do list.

The pool, which has its own umbrella shaped water fountain, is right in the centre of the picturesque park, which is also home to a playground, with climbing frames, swings and slides. And one person who was there on Sunday afternoon, to join many others, was Charlotte Trippier, wife of Newcastle United star Kieran.

Since making the switch from Spain to Tyneside when her husband signed for the Magpies at the start of 2022, fashionista Charlotte has thrown herself into life in her new home, becoming a huge fan of Bongo's Bingo, as well as being very fond of a Greggs and being a regular in the stands at St James' Park.

As Kieran remains on Euro 2024 duty with England, Charlotte has had a busy weekend, taking the couple's three children. to The Hoppings, before vowing 'never again' as she recovered at home with a bottle of Desperado after. And, on Sunday, she made the trip from the family's home up to Morpeth to enjoy some more weather in Carlisle Park.

Over the last few years, other well known faces and their families have also been at the park, so don't rule out bumping into one the next time you're there.

The paddling pool is open daily from the second bank holiday in May until the end of the school summer holidays in September.
