Pedestrian rushed to hospital with serious injuries after horror crash in Farnworth

A woman is in hospital with serious injuries after a horror crash in Bolton. At around 4.30pm this afternoon (Tuesday, June 11) Greater Manchester Police (GMP) were called to reports of a collision between a vehicle and a pedestrian on Albert Road in Farnworth, Bolton.

A woman, who was a pedestrian, was taken to hospital with serious injuries where she remains.

Images from the scene show a police presence and a large section of Albert Road cordoned off with police tape.

Albert Road remains closed in both directions due to accident investigation work from Frederick Street to Longcauseway, according to the traffic alert service Inrix.

A member of staff at the Sorento takeaway on Albert Road who wishes not to be named, told the M.E.N. that they saw a police cordon put in place at around 4.30pm following a crash.

She said: “There’s a cordon in place and police around. It was a road traffic incident.”

A spokesperson from GMP said: “At around 4.30pm this afternoon (Tuesday 11 June 2024), we were called to reports of a road traffic collision between a vehicle and a pedestrian on Albert Road in Farnworth, Bolton.

“The female pedestrian was taken to hospital with serious injuries where she remains.

“Investigations are ongoing.”
