Pedestrian seriously injured in horror collision with motorcycle near Preston

A pedestrian has been rushed to hospital with serious injuries following a collision yesterday (Jun 6).

Emergency services were called to the A59 Liverpool Road at shortly before 4.30pm. There had been reports a woman, in her 80s, had been hit by a motorcycle.

On arrival, officers from Lancashire Constabulary said they found the pensioner, from Hutton, had suffered head and leg injuries. She was taken to hospital from the scene, where she remains in a serious but stable condition.

No arrests have been made, and the rider of the vehicle - a Benelli BN125 motorcycle - has not been arrested.

Police have now issued an appeal for witnesses to the incident. They particularly want to hear from anyone with dashcam footage recorded at the time of, or around, the incident.

Sgt Joe Ghigi, from the Specialist Operations Team, said: “This collision has left a woman with serious injuries. Work is ongoing to establish the full circumstances which led to the collision, and I would ask anyone with information or dashcam footage to contact the police as soon as possible.”
