Philippe Clement delivers deadpan Dundee pitch quip as Rangers boss pressed on call off concerns

Philippe Clement admits he's a "better manager than a groundsman" after being pressed on concerns Rangers' clash with Dundee this week could be postponed again.

The Met Office issued a weather warning for this coming Wednesday when the two are set to lock horns. That comes after referee Don Robertson was forced to call off the previously scheduled fixture over safety concerns at Dens Park. The pitch was not deemed playable that day after two inspections and they had a similar issue on Saturday against Motherwell.

That game was able to go ahead but took days of planning and covers over the grass to avoid any issues. Now there are fears there could be another postponement for Wednesday but Clement insists he's only focusing on what he can control and the Dens surface is not included in that.

"No, I have be focused on this game (Celtic)," he told BBC Sportsound when asked if he'd given it any thought beforehand. "Pitches of other teams is something to look at over the next couple of days, but I cannot change that. I am not a good groundsman. My wife knows that. I am a better manager than groundsman. I cannot change anything about that. It is between Dundee and the federation to see that Scottish football is played on good surfaces."

Asked then about the rest of the season's chances following their 3-3 draw with Celtic on Sunday, he added: "It’s about Dundee again and going hard for the three points. Then you can look at the last two or three games and what the points are. We need to just keep continuing to focus on ourselves."
