Police called to man reportedly trying to climb fence near airport and make arrest

POLICE were called to a man reportedly climbing a fence near an airport and made an arrest.

West Yorkshire Police received a call from a member of the public at 3.53pm on Wednesday who reported that a man had been spotted climbing a fence close to Leeds Bradford Airport, in Yeadon.

Officers went to the scene and a man was arrested in a nearby field, outside the airport's perimeter.

He was detained on suspicion of being drunk and disorderly, according to a spokesperson for West Yorkshire Police.

"Police received a call from a member of the public reporting that a male had been spotted climbing a fence close to Leeds Bradford Airport.

"Officers attended the scene and a male was detained in a nearby field, outside the airport perimeter, on suspicion of being drunk and disorderly.

"The report was received at 3:53pm today (26/6)."
