A police officer was left injured after a late-night chase ended with a car crashing into a police motorbike.

At 9.20pm yesterday a stolen grey Honda Civic was being driven on false number plates when it was spotted by police officers on Wimpson Lane.

The car had been reported stolen from Roberts Road in Southampton on June 27, Hampshire Constabulary said.

When told to stop, the driver is said to have sped off and began driving through red lights on Romsey Road and driving on the wrong side of the road on Lordshill Way roundabout.

The Civic then crashed into a marked police motorbike on Lordshill Centre East before also crashing into a white Peugeot on Lordshill Centre West, according to the police.

After this, the driver fled the scene.

A spokesperson said: “If anyone witnessed this incident, has relevant dash cam footage, or has any other information about the Honda Civic being driven in the area recently, please call 101 quoting reference 44240279875.”
