Police are investigating an incident at a Newcastle fan zone after an England fan was caught on TV spooning a substance into his nose.

During the viral clip, a man can be seen "snorting a substance" after watching the Three Lions’ late Euro 2024 win against Slovakia on Sunday.

The video - taken from Times Square fan zone Central Park and broadcast on Sky Sports - shows the man laughing and jumping with jubilant supporters.

Now, Northumbria Police has confirmed it is investigating the incident at the open-air venue, which has been showing Euro games on big screens across the last few weeks.

A force spokesperson said: “We have been made aware of footage circulating on social media of a male appearing to take a substance while in Newcastle’s Times Square (on Sunday) evening.
