Police release images of man after spray paint used to vandalise ambulance in North Shields

Police have released images of a man they would like to trace after spray paint was used to vandalise an ambulance.

Officers received a report of criminal damage in the Albion Road area of North Shields, North Tyneside. They were told that an offender has used used spray paint to deface an ambulance belonging to the North East Ambulance Service (NEAS).

The incident occurred at around 10pm on Thursday, February 8.

Enquiries remain ongoing and Northumbria Police has identified a man who they would like to trace. The male was in the area at the time of the offence and could have information that can assist officers.

NEAS chief operating officer Stephen Segasby said the ambulance was off the road for five days following the incident while it was repaired.

She said: "Vandalising an emergency ambulance is wholly unacceptable. Damage of any nature impacts our service by taking emergency resources off the road which ultimately affects patient safety.

"This incident resulted in the vehicle being off the road to repair for five days. We would urge anyone with information about this incident to contact the police immediately and help us bring those responsible to justice."
