Police have seized seven suspected 'joints' from a 29-year-old woman travelling on the Belfast to Coleraine train. It followed a "search under the misuse of drugs act" on Wednesday. They say officers from the safe transport team stopped and spoke to the female passenger in Ballymoney. Following interview, the case has been referred to the Public Prosecution Service.

A post on the PSNI Causeway Coast & Glens Facebook page read: "Safe Transport Team officers were conducting early morning patrols on the rail network between Belfast and Coleraine. While in Ballymoney, officers stopped and spoke to one female passenger on board the train.

"Officers conducted a search under the Misuse of Drugs Act of the female and discovered her to be in possession of seven suspected Herbal Cannabis joints which were consequently seized.

"The female was interviewed in relation to this drug offence and will now be reported to the Public Prosecution service."

A PSNI spokesperson added on Friday: "The woman was 29 years old and a file is currently being compiled for the Public Prosecution Service."
