Police stop driver in 'stolen' car and return vehicle to its owner

A car that was reported stolen was recovered by police on the M6 in Lancashire yesterday (May 21).

The blue BMW 5 Series (pictured below) was seen by officers on the M6 northbound in Preston after it was reported stolen from Manchester.

The officers used "preemptive tactics" to bring the car to a stop and prevent a pursuit.

The two occupants were arrested and the car will be returned to its owner.

A police spokesperson said: "BMW reported stolen from Manchester sighted northbound on the M6 at Preston.

"Preemptive tactics used to stop it to prevent any pursuit, two occupants arrested.

"The car has been recovered and will be returned to its owner."
