A popular Liverpool pub has opened a second branch.

The Blackburne Arms in the Georgian Quarter has become one of the city’s most popular gastropubs in recent years. Co-owner Stephen Sinclair was born in Stockbridge Village but moved to Woking in Surrey when he was a child.

He started his career in Woking's pubs, before working for Marco Pierre White at his Yew Tree gastropub near Newbury. He told the ECHO earlier this year he decided to return home to Merseyside after “being away for too long”.

Stephen established The Blackburne Arms in Catharine Street with his wife Lina. Stephen believes the venue serves the best roast dinners in Liverpool, claiming staff have to turn away 600 to 700 people each Sunday hoping to try them.

As a result of this popularity, he has now opened a second venue, entitled The Blackburne Arms Allerton. Located at 135 Allerton Road, the venue opened to customers last Saturday.

The pub has promised to host live music and craft ales in the new pub, as well as continuing to serve the “number one roast in Liverpool”. Other food available includes fish and chips, an aubergine masala and a full breakfast menu.
