After a Record 12 Weeks, Suits Knocked From No. 1 Spot on Nielsen Streaming Chart

When all was said and done, it was quaint li’l Virgin River that ended sharp-dressed Suits‘ reign atop Nielsen’s overall U.S. ranking of streaming programs.

For the week of Sept. 11, Netflix’s Virgin River amassed 2.05 billion minutes viewed across 52 episodes, earning it the No. 1 spot on Nielsen’s overall streaming chart (which includes movies, acquired series and such).

Suits, which streams on both Netflix and Peacock, slipped to second place with 1.9 billion minutes viewed across 135 episodes — and thus ended its record-setting, spinoff-spawning run of 12 weeks in the top spot. Of course, as Virgin River recedes, Suits could reclaim the No. 1 spot and add onto its record, which was never defined by consecutive weeks.

Elemental (streaming on Disney+) placed third on the overall chart with 1.7 billion minutes viewed of the 102-minute Disney/Pixar flick.

Rounding out the Top 10 originals for the week of Sept. 11 were Prime Video’s The Wheel of Time (down three spots with 423 million minutes viewed across 13 available episodes), Netflix’s Glow Up (399 million minutes/40 episodes), The Morning Show (only the third Apple TV+ show to ever chart, with 350 million minutes/22 available episodes), Hulu’s Futurama (349 million minutes/143 available episodes) and Netflix’s Spy Ops (288 million minutes/eight episodes).
