Renee Zellweger has been spotted in London filming the upcoming Bridget Jones movie. Residents of Haverstock Hill were surprised to see the Oscar-winning actress shooting scenes for Mad About The Boy on their local street.

Beginning at 7pm, Renee was said to have filmed on their street for nearly two hours. Images reveal her characterisation included engaging with other women at a bus stop on May 17.

One resident, preferring anonymity, remarked: "I don't know much about the Bridget Jones films, but she is an Academy Award-winning actress. We were hoping to see Hugh Grant or some other actors but she was the only one." Mad About the Boy will be the fourth iteration of the popular Bridget Jones series. Though Colin Firth won't be reprising his role this time around, Hugh Grant will return.

Additionally, Emma Thompson who graced the 2016 film Bridget Jones's Baby, will be part of the forthcoming movie. Slated for release next February to align with Valentine's Day, Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy is being filmed in London ahead and is based on Helen Fielding's 2013 novel of the same name.

In the new instalment, audiences will follow Bridget as she navigates life as a single mother and widow at 51. New character Leo Woodall, who plays Bridget's younger love interest, will be introduced.

Their story unfolds as Bridget re-enters dating after becoming a widow.

The franchise has so far raked in a whopping $760m at the box office, with the first film in 2001 earning Zellweger an Oscar nomination. Both Grant and Colin Firth were part of the original cast, with all three returning for the sequel in 2004, Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason.

However, Grant did not feature in 2016's Bridget Jones's Baby, although both Zellweger and Firth reprised their roles.

The most recent film in the series, Bridget Jones's Baby, revolved around Bridget's unexpected pregnancy and a love triangle involving Mark Darcy (Firth) and a new character played by Patrick Dempsey.
