Road taped off by emergency crews over 'concern for welfare' of woman

A road in Gatley was cordoned off by police earlier as emergency crews responded to 'concerns for the welfare' of a woman.

Officers were called to the scene on Springfield Road at around 5.55am this morning (Monday). Eyewitnesses reported seeing a large police presence on the street as a cordon was put in place.

Paramedics also responded. A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police said the woman 'located' and is now 'safe and well'.

No injuries were reported and the road was reopened after a number of hours. A GMP spokesperson said: "We were called at 5.56am this morning (Monday 24 June 2024) to reports of the concern for welfare of a woman on Springfield Road, Gately. Officers and colleagues from the ambulance service attended and a woman in her 40s was located and is now safe and well.

"No injuries have been reported. Springfield Road has now been reopened and we thank the public for their patience whilst officers responded."
