Royal Scot takes Suffolk steam fans for away day to Derbyshire

One of Britain's best-known steam locomotives has made a return trip to East Anglia.

Royal Scot passed through the county on Wednesday at the head of a special train to the Midlands.

The LMS express locomotive, which spent three decades at the Bressingham Steam Museum on the Norfolk/Suffolk border, hauled the special train from Colchester to the Barrow Hill steam centre near Chesterfield in Derbyshire.

From there travellers were taken on trips to Chatsworth House or the Crich Tramway Museum - or were left at Barrow Hill to explore the museum which has a fine collection of steam, diesel and electric locomotives.

The train returned to East Anglia in the evening pulled by a veteran diesel locomotive - Royal Scot remained at Barrow Hill for its next trip which will start from the Midlands.
