Rylan Clark-Neal and Union J lead tributes to George Shelley's sister Harriet

On Saturday night it was tragically confirmed that George Shelley’s 21-year-old sister, Harriet, had sadly passed away after being hit by a car on Friday 28th April.

The midwifery student sustained serious head injuries in the accident and doctors were unable to save her.

Now George’s former Union J bandmates have lead the tributes to Harriet on social media, admitting that they are heartbroken by the news.

JJ Hamblett wrote: “No words can describe this awful moment, such a loving beautiful girl which was taken too soon, #RIP Harriet thinking of you George.”

Jaymi Hensley shared a heartbroken emoji on Saturday before the news broke, later adding: “Devastated doesn’t even come close! The most beautiful spirit and truly wonderful person!

“RIP beautiful girl! Love you George & family.”

Josh Cuthbert wrote: “Heartbroken about the news of Harriet Shelley. Such a lovely kind hearted girl. Will be missed so much.

“Thinking of you George, brother.”

George, 23, first joined Union J when the band auditioned for The X Factor back in 2012, with Simon Cowell and co. adding George, who auditioned as a solo artist, to the original trio.

He left the band shortly after competing on I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here! in 2015, going on to have a successful TV and radio career.

Rylan Clark-Neal competed on The X Factor at the same time as Union J and also paid touching tribute to Harriet yesterday, writing: “Saying a prayer for all of you @higeorgeshelley .

“We all love you and your amazing family. Sending so much love #RIPHarrietShelley x”.

George has remained inactive on social media since Harriet’s accident and has not commented on his sister’s tragic death.

Our thoughts are with George and his family at this incredibly sad time.
