This is the shameless moment a pair of thieves casually walked off with a huge globe full of charity cash at one of Britain’s busiest airports.

The two suspects snatched the see-through ball of money from Gatwick Airport in front of passengers waiting to get on flights.

In a separate incident two weeks later a gang that included two of the same thieves tried to steal another box, but were forced to leave empty-handed.

The first theft happened on 3 January when three men raided Gatwick’s South Terminal before making off on foot towards Horley, Surrey.

The second incident, on 18 January, saw four men enter the same terminal to take another globe.

However, the men – two of whom were believed to be involved in the previous incident – dropped it on the floor when they were challenged by a member of airport staff.

No money was stolen and the suspects made off empty handed in the same direction.

Police have now released CCTV images of the two suspects they still want to trace in connection with the theft.

The man who picked up the globes on both occasions is shown in the images wearing a baseball cap, while the second man is wearing a black coat and black woollen hat.

PC Nick Truan said: “We don’t know how much money was stolen on the first occasion, but these were despicable acts and this pair need to be identified and arrested.”

A 26-year-old man, from Crawley, West Sussex, was arrested on suspicion of being involved in the first theft, while two men, one aged 24 from Crawley, and one aged 23 of no fixed address, were arrested on suspicion of being involved in the second theft.

The globes are located around the Airport at various locations and are for passengers to donate any loose change or foreign currency.

The money is divided between Travelcare, Cancer Research UK and St Catherine’s Hospice.
