Showbiz Fix: The Jonas Brothers Split, Chris Brown Released From Custody, Lou Reed Tributes Continue

The Jonas Brothers have broken thousands of hearts around the world after officially announcing they have split up following several weeks of speculation about a “deep rift” within the band.

While fans had been hoping the brothers would patch up their feud, Kevin has now delivered the news that they are no longer together.

Eldest brother Kevin told People magazine: “It's over for now,” while Joe added: “It was a unanimous decision.”

Chris Brown pleaded not guilty to charges of misdemeanor assault at a Washington D.C. court yesterday following his arrest in the city on Sunday morning but, according to the latest report, his team is more worried about what impact the charges may have on his felony parole status rather than the latest assault case.

The 24 year-old was taken into custody after getting into a scuffle with an unidentified man outside of the Washington Hotel at 4:30am. The alleged victim reportedly broke his nose during the altercation, which also involved his bodyguard. After being arrested on charges of felony assault (they were later reduced to misdemeanor), the real issue for Brown, TMZ claims, is the situation with his felony parole following his conviction of assaulting ex-girlfriend Rihanna in 2009.

A report submitted by the Probation Dept. following an investigation will be submitted to the judge who oversees his parole terms. TMZ claims it's likely, based on recent events and previous issues over Brown's parole, that the District Attorney will ask the judge to revoke his probation. If probation is revoked, the singer may face four years in prison.

Finally, tributes continue to come in for late musician Lou Reed, who died from complications arising from liver disease at the weekend.

David Beckham, Zane Lowe, The Who and even Miley Cyrus have been among those tweeting their sadness over his tragic passing at the age of 71.

Lou had been sober since the 1980s and practiced Tai Chi. He had a liver transplant in May in Cleveland, Ohio and believed he was doing well after getting out of hospital.

“I am a triumph of modern medicine, physics and chemistry,” he wrote in a public statement. “I am bigger and stronger than ever.”
