Sichuan Takin Calf Shows Off Jumping Skills to Dad at St Louis Zoo

A Sichuan takin calf gave it everything she had while showing off her jumping skills to dad at Saint Louis Zoo in Missouri.

Footage recorded by the zoo shows Cornelia, a one-and-a-half-month-old Sichuan takin calf, showing off her moves to dad Yadier at their first meeting.

“Cornelia was energetic—running, dodging and perfecting the air time on her jumps. Yadier was incredibly patient with her,” the zoo wrote.

The species are in the Bovidae family and are related to goats and sheep.

“Jumping and climbing are important skills for a young takin. The species is native to mountainous bamboo forests in Asia. Takins grow to between about 500 to 800 pounds but remain surprisingly nimble and able to climb in their mountain homes,” the zoo added.
