Smart cow and calf outfit tops £3,100 at CCM highlight

SKIPTON Auction Mart’s fortnightly sale of young feeding bulls, store bullocks and heifers and breeding cattle saw 345 head forward and some nice averages reached despite a drop in entries on Wednesday, June 19.

A tidy show of mainly Angus breeding cattle with Angus calves but it was a young cow with a smart Limousin heifer calf that took top price of £3,100 consigned by JM&S Tennant, of Bordley.

Angus Cows and calves to £1,800 average £1,641. Limousin x cow with Limousin calves to £3,100. Aberdeen Angus cows with Angus steer calves to £1,600. Angus cows with Angus heifer calves to £1,800.

Nice quality feeding bulls saw home-bred Limousin yearlings reach £2,000 (J Pickles, Ribblehead). Simmentals to £1,980, and Charlolais at 10 months old to £1,560. Bulls overall averaged £1418.

Feeding cows sold to a top of £1,780. Prime Cattle weighing mid 500’s, sold from 324.5p to 344.5p, In the store cattle ring, Limousin bullocks sold to £1,860. Limousin heifers to £1,740. Blue bullocks to £1,760. Blue heifers to £1,520. Native heifers to £1,410. Angus heifers to feed reached £1,370. Angus bullocks to £1670.
