Someone bet a grand on the Greens and the party's Twitter game was excellent
A gambler is always looking for strong odds, and the 1000/1 chance of a Green Party victory proved too tempting to resist for one flush voter.
The anonymous individual put £1,000 on the Green’s to come out on top in today’s General Election, meaning he or she stands to win £1m if the polls all turn out to have been drastically wrong.

Ladbrokes shared the news of the shock bet on their Twitter feed, which prompted a classic reaction from the Green Party.

Their response, which implied party leader Caroline Lucas may have placed the bet herself, met with hilarity on social media.
It has so far been shared more than 8,000 times and has received 18,000 likes.
One poster said it was the “funniest tweet of the campaign”, while another described it as the “best grand spent on viral marketing yet”.

According to the final YouGov poll ahead of the election, which asked who people intended to vote for, just 2 percent of all respondents picked the Greens.
