Spice Girls reunion: What they've said about reforming as Mel B teases big news
Will the Wannabe singers ever reunite on stage again?
Mel B has hinted that the Spice Girls — including Victoria Beckham — will reunite for a secret project.
Fans of the Wannabe singers have been desperate to see them back together for years, but when the group reformed for a string of shows in 2019 Beckham did not take part.
However, according to Mel, something is now in the pipeline.

She told The Sun: “My theory is that if I say it enough, it will happen. But actually we are planning on releasing a statement.
“What that is, I can't say right now because we're just finishing off perfecting what we're going to be doing together, all five of us, but it's going to be something that the fans are really going to love.”
Mel, aka Scary Spice, said the stars – which also includes Geri Horner, Mel C and Emma Bunton – have always been in contact and have a group WhatsApp, but that so far things have been about “timing” for designer Beckham.
And it seems the time is finally right, as the star promised “there should be an announcement pretty soon”.
When did the Spice Girls split?
The Spice Girls made a huge splash in the 90s with their bold brand of Girl Power and had a string of hits including Wannabe, 2 Become 1 and Say You’ll Be There.
They were a major part of the Cool Britannia era and sold millions of records, becoming the best-selling girl group of all time.
The girls were flying high but it all came crashing down in 1998 when Ginger Spice Geri announced that she was quitting, citing exhaustion and saying she needed a break.
She got to work on her solo career while the other four band members released songs including Goodbye and Viva Forever.
But in 2000 the group announced they were going on an indefinite hiatus.
Have they reunited since?
All five singers reunited in 2007 for a string of shows: The Return of the Spice Girls Tour. It ran for 45 shows from December 2007 to February 2008, including a 17-night sellout run at the O2 arena.
Then in 2012 they got together again to perform at the closing ceremony of the London Olympics.
The stars sent the crowd wild as they pulled up in a line of black cabs, each decorated to reflect their Spice persona.
Beckham later said on Instagram that the performance – which included a medley of Wannabe and Spice Up Your Life – was “one of my proudest Spice Girls moments”.
Glastonbury rumours
Rumours of a Glastonbury performance have been swirling for years, with both Mels dropping hints about it. But so far it hasn’t happened.
Mel C told The Guardian this year that it was definitely something they wanted but that it wasn’t part of “the current plan”.
“It’s the question I hate the most, because the answer is as disappointing to me as it is to Spice Girls fans,” she said.
“We would love to do Glasto. It just doesn’t fit with the current plan with the girls. We do want to get back on stage – everything is up in the air.”
However, Mel B seems to be determined to tick the festival off her Spice Girls bucket list.
During a recent chat on The Big Narstie Show she was asked if the group would be on the bill and replied: "Yes, I think so! But I’ve got to convince the four b****** to do it with me!”
What happened with the 2019 comeback shows?
In 2019 the group got back together for a stadium tour — Spice World — but Beckham turned down the chance to join them.
Fans were disappointed that Posh wasn’t at the gigs but the tour was still a massive hit, reportedly raking in more than £60 million in ticket sales.
The Daily Mail reported that Beckham later opened up about her decision in an interview with Vogue Germany, saying it took “a lot of courage” for her to say ‘no’ .
She said: “For example, it took me a lot of courage not to go on tour with the Spice Girls again, but to be the one who says, ‘You know, I'm not doing it because things feel different now than they used to. I'd rather concentrate on my family and my company’.”
What has Beckham said about reunion rumours?
Beckham appeared to pour cold water on the idea of a Spice Girls reunion as recently as October last year.
The mum-of-four was quizzed about it on US show Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen amid speculation about the possible Glasto gig.
But she suggested it was unlikely as she was so busy with her children and her fashion and beauty lines.
"I love the girls,” she said. “I really, really enjoy singing Spice Girls when I’m doing karaoke, but I think I’d better leave it there.”
Could Spice World 2 be on the cards?
If Mel B’s hint isn’t about a musical performance, could a Spice World sequel be on the cards?
The film was unveiled in 1997 and there has been a lot of chat about whether the singers would get together for a follow up.
However, when there was a big buzz about it a couple of years ago, Beckham seemed to suggest she didn’t know anything about it.
