Former Nottingham Forest boss Steve Cooper could be in line for a return to the Premier League this summer amid what seems to be a managerial merry-go-round.

Cooper was axed by the Reds last December after more than two years in charge. He has been linked with several jobs since but remains out of work.

The end of the 2023/24 season has already led to some dugout departures and prompted talk of others potentially being on the cards. With that in mind, Cooper is said to be an option for Brentford should Thomas Frank head elsewhere.

Frank is on Chelsea’s managerial shortlist to replace Mauricio Pochettino, according to the Daily Mail. Ipswich Town’s Kieran McKenna and Leicester City’s Enzo Maresca are also reported to be contenders for the job at Stamford Bridge.

It is said Frank is “keeping an open mind” about his future and “would be open” to a switch to a bigger club, if the working conditions are right. Chelsea are said to want to have a new head coach in place by the start of June.

Earlier this week, it emerged Cooper had ruled himself out of the running for the Norwich City job. The Canaries apparently had the Welshman on their radar to succeed David Wagner, who left following their failed play-offs bid.

This summer could see several managerial changes throughout the divisions. And rumours persist that one could be made at the City Ground.

There has been speculation about Cooper’s successor at Forest, Nuno Espirito Santo. The Reds have been linked with ex-Brighton and Hove Albion boss Roberto De Zerbi and Fiorentina’s Vincenzo Italiano, while Nuno is said to have clubs in Portugal and Spain monitoring his situation.
