Susanna Reid said she was relieved that her Good Morning Britain co-host Piers Morgan wasn’t the father of her children.

The journalist made the comment after the pair clashed over their parenting styles.

Having watched a viral clip of a young girl’s impressive table tennis skills, Morgan declared that he was going to sign his six-year-old daughter up to be as good as the girl in the video.

“When I get home, my daughter is going for table tennis lessons for five hours a day. I’m not having her left behind,” Morgan stated, which led Reid to declare: “Can we let children be children please?”

Refusing to agree with Reid, Morgan asked: “Why wouldn’t you want your kids to be champions?”

“Our kids are being driven by soft parents into being soft. We molly-coddle them, we cover them in cotton wool,” he added.

“It’s such a terrible thing to love your children isn’t it?,” Reid sarcastically retorted.

Standing by his belief that children need to be the best at everything, outspoken journalist Morgan revealed that his young daughter is already multilingual.

“My daughter is fluent in French at the age of six. We’re moving on now to Mandarin and Russian.

“Kids like to win, like to compete…Winning tastes better.”

Wanting to prove that he was right, Morgan called for a poll to be set up in order for the public to vote.

But as he reiterated his views, Reid expressed her relief that she didn’t have to contend with her co-host’s views at home.

“I am so glad you’re not the father of my children,” Reid stated before the presenters moved on with the show.

Good Morning Britain continues on ITV, weekdays from 6am.
