Watch: Who made it into the Great British Bake Off final?
The Great British Bake Off has named its 2020 finalists after an incredibly close semi-final.
Laura, Hermine, Peter and Dave all went into patisserie week with high hopes of securing a place in the series final, but it was Hermine who fell at the final hurdle.

It was a split competition in week nine, with Peter and Dave both performing the best they had done all series while usually calm and collected bakers Hermine and Laura struggled in each challenge.

Hermine was hit by the Bake Off curse of expecting to excel in a particular week, as she had been brilliant at patisserie all series.
At the beginning of the episode, the judges and other contestants pointed out that patisserie was Hermine’s speciality and that she had won Star Baker twice, pretty much putting the kiss of death on her semi-final.
We’re so sad to see Hermine leave the Bake Off Tent after so many wonderful creations throughout the series - and much laughter too. A very bright future lies ahead! #GBBO pic.twitter.com/b0Lw8ZyxkY

Laura faced her nightmare in the technical challenge where she had to create a Danish cornucopia and panicked that she would be unable to present anything at all.
In the end, judges Paul Hollywood and Prue Leith decided that despite it being close between the two women, it was Hermine who had made more mistakes.
However, fans of the show disagreed...

If I was Hermine I would be straight on the phone to Four Seasons Total Landscaping.

Leith told her in the showstopper: “To be honest I’m disappointed, because you are so good at patisserie and by your standards, this is a failure.”
Meanwhile, Peter was back on form after a shaky week eight and even scored a Hollywood handshake in the signature bake for his savarin.

Dave created a stunning cube cake in the showstopper, with the judges congratulating him on how much he’d improved as a baker, but they decided to crown Peter the week’s Star Baker.
The final three fought off competition in a year like no other as the contestants had to form a bubble for the duration of the series so that it could go ahead under COVID filming restrictions.
Because of the change in production, next week’s final could look a little different as bakers are usually joined by all of their closest family and friends in a big garden party to hear the winner announced.
It looks set to be just as close in the final as it was this week, so there’s plenty to look forward to in the last episode of the series.
The Great British Bake Off final airs on Tuesday, November 24 at 8pm on Channel 4.
