Chelsea and ex-Manchester United hit-man Romelu Lukaku should reignite his career at Aston Villa.

That’s according to former Belgium striker Emile Mpenza who says he is surprised his compatriot has find it so difficult to make an impact at Chelsea having scored goals pretty much everywhere he has been.

The Belgian international scored 21 for Roma last term, 14 for Inter Milan the year before than, 42 for Manchester United, 87 for Everton but in two spells at Stamford Bridge it has never quite worked for him.

With his loan in the Italian capital now at an end he is expected to be on the move again this summer – and Mpenza, who played 57 times for Belgium – says he should not necessarily leave the Premier League.

“I think Romelu Lukaku’s struggles at Chelsea are very strange because he is a top striker, but for some reason he didn’t play well for them,” Mpenza told OLBG.

“He’s strong, he’s fast and he scores lots of goals, but it didn’t work out for him in the end in the Premier League. But he has played very well in Italy and importantly he always plays well for Belgium.

“I think Lukaku leaves Chelsea this summer and I could see him going to Turkey with Galatasaray or Fenerbahce. I think he could reunite with Jose Mourinho knows him very well, that’s the kind of coach he needs.

“Lukaku has the quality to stay in the Premier League but maybe not with any of the traditional ‘big six’ teams, he could look to return to Everton if they can get a good deal or even Aston Villa.

“I think he could be a great option for Aston Villa when they play in the Champions League, there wouldn’t be as much pressure on him as there is at Chelsea."
